Business Information Solutions, Inc. was founded in 1980 when Frank Albi brought the offsite data storage industry to Cincinnati serving Southwest Ohio and nearby Indiana and Kentucky businesses. Since then, BIS pioneered the use of computer and barcode technology for records center inventory control and developed a variety of innovative indexing, handling, and reporting techniques that go beyond records management to help our clients control their records.The BIS executive offices are located in our Queensgate facility built in 1900 as the home of the P.R. Mitchell Company, a manufacturer of feather pillows. This facility has been extensively adapted to provide exceptional record storage and handling capabilities. As records have evolved from paper to computer tapes to digital images, BIS has continued to develop innovative services to create best practices for the industry. Frank is founder and owner-operator of Business Information Solutions, Inc. (BIS), Cincinnati’s first Records Control company. A native of Denver, he graduated from University of Colorado in Boulder where he earned a BA in 1969 and an MA in 1977.Frank writes a regular blog Just for the Re-cords.In 1980, Frank brought the commercial records storage industry to Cincinnati when he opened the region’s first off-site storage facility. Before that, he was the Computer Security Administrator for Federated Department Stores, Data Security Officer at Seattle-First National Bank, and Police Specialist at Battelle Seattle Research Center. Frank’s career began as a police officer in Boulder, where he was a graduate student in sociology.An outspoken activist for the interests of small business, Frank is often quoted in the press. In 1995, Frank was elected to the White House Conference on Small Business which resulted in U.S. Representative Steve Chabot (a member of the House Subcommittee on Small Business), asking Frank to serve on his Small Business Advisory Committee.BIS’ organizational chart shows how proud we are to be a family run business.
